Budenberg Haus History
Here at Xenia Estates we are the proud Managing Agent for Budenberg Haus in Altrincham.
This iconic building, in the heart of the town has a history dating as far back as 1914.
Previously a Gauge Factory named “The Budenberg Gauge Company” which was famous for making:
- Bourdon pressure gauges
- Schaffer diaphragms
- and dead‑weight pressure testers
Following the start of World War 1, the Budenberg brothers moved from Whitworth Street (Manchester) in 1914 to “The Budenberg”, a new purpose built factory on Woodfield Road designed by an architect called Alfred Steinthall. This was where Budenberg Gauge Company was founded in 1918!
The factory closed in 2002 leaving behind one historic building that has been retained within the development. The new site was developed in 2005 by Urban Splash! The remaining building left behind was the Budenberg Office, three stories high made from brick and steel.
This original building now holds 33 apartments & boasts a beautiful clock tower and a stained glass window commemorating the Budenberg Gauge company.
The Budenberg site now comprises 248 apartments in total over 3 blocks.
- Budenberg Haus (original building) – 33 apartments
- Haus 2 (new build) – 108 apartments
- Haus 3 (new build) – 107 apartments
