Spotlight On – Paul Wright
Spotlight On
We spent some time with Paul Wright, our Director to find out all about his role at Xenia Estates!
Tell us a little bit about your role…
I am the Managing Director for Xenia Estates so my job is to set the strategic priorities of the company and oversee the departmental development for new opportunities and existing operations.
How did you get to where you are today…
After I graduated university in 2013, I embarked on a career in Marketing. At the age of 26 I was given the opportunity to step up from a Head of Marketing role to become a Director – this was a huge learning curve however I believe my marketing background naturally allowed me to transition smoothly as strategic planning, organisational culture, excellent services, sustainable development and a return on investment focus were all transferable skillsets.
What would you say makes Xenia stand out?
For me it is Xenia’s personality that stands out. Xenia is the ancient Greek concept of hospitality, so every decision we make as a company including culture and service is centred around this concept.
What do you love about your role?
For me, leading a company and creating a culture which allows people to succeed is a massive drive for me. I have been very lucky in my career and I am thankful for those who have given me the opportunity, so I try and create those opportunities for others.
How do you destress or unwind?
Outside of work I love to play sports such as tennis, squash, and golf. I also love visiting new places and trying new foods.
What is your favourite building in the world & why?
I am a massive history buff, so the Parthenon in Athens would be certainly up there due to its location within the Acropolis.
Also, the British Museum is one of my favourite places to visit within the UK – for obvious reasons! The Shanghai world financial centre is one of my more modern favourites.
City life or Country life?
I would say suburbia works best for me. I like being out in the countryside, but I also like the vibrancy of city life – why not have the best of both worlds!?
